The course covers the basics of how coding works, including logic, algorithms, and problem-solving strategies. You will understand the role of coding in software, web, and app development and learn how to use correct syntax, indentation, and structure.

You will also understand basic data protection, copyright, and cyber safety when writing or sharing code and learn about ethical considerations in coding.

You will gain a strong foundation for progressing into Level 3 coding, software development, or other IT-related qualifications.

Upon completion, you will have developed a strong understanding of how coding works and its importance in software and web development. You will understand basic programming concepts algorithms, and control structures. You will be able to follow safe and ethical coding practices, plan simple programs, and solve problems through code. This knowledge will prepare you to move on to more advanced digital courses or entry-level roles in the tech industry.

1. You must currently live in a Non-Devolved Area of England or the Great London Area (GLA). If you live in GLA you must evidence you have permission to remain here for the next 365 days. You must have residency to be in the UK/EEA for the purposes other than study when enrolling onto the course.
2. You must be over the age of 19 or older (on 31 August 2024) and be able to fully commit to this course.
3. You must have the relevant ID to register for this course. (passport, visa/permit, birth certificate or driving licence and proof of address within the last 3 months)
4. You must not have done this qualification at the same or higher level previously.

The course is delivered remotely and you will need a laptop or computer to be able to access and study on this course.
